Dr. Eric Packwood

Eric A. Packwood, MD, MBA

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Eric Packwood graduated from Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine before completing his pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

In 2000, he moved to DFW and later cofounded Pediatric Eye Specialists (PES) with Alan Norman in 2002. Dr. Packwood has enjoyed pursuing his passion through various avenues to deliver the best possible care for all children in the region needing eyecare.

In the academic realm, Dr. Packwood has published multiple peer-reviewed papers, presented at national meetings and, more recently, enjoyed mentoring medical students as an assistant professor at TCU Medical School.

Dr. Packwood’s leadership roles and ongoing professional development has been broad and extensive. Most recently, Dr. Packwood completed his MBA at the combined Naveen Jindal School of Business/Southwestern Medical School executive program. Beyond serving as managing partner at PES, he serves as Administrative Director of Ophthalmology at Cook Children’s Medical Center, cofounder and chairman of the board for Child Vision Center, immediate past president of the Texas Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, councilor for the Texas Ophthalmology Association, and immediate past chair of the AAPOS Socioeconomic Committee.

Since his arrival to the area in 2000, Dr. Packwood’s excellence in clinical care has been recognized by local and regional publications. More than thirty times, Dr. Packwood has been selected as a “Super Doctor” in Texas Monthly, “Best Doctor for Your Child” in D Magazine and “Top Doc” in Fort Worth, Texas magazine.

Finally, beyond embracing philanthropy through PES, Dr. Packwood is a longtime volunteer for the Alexander Eye Clinic at Cook Children’s Medical Center and has participated in medical mission work in various third-world settings.

Dr. Packwood treats all pediatric eye disorders and adults with misaligned eyes (strabismus). He is highly experienced in the treatment of childhood strabismus, amblyopia, trauma, cataracts, retinopathy of prematurity, and ptosis.
